I find writing the first draft painful. You see, this guy Lefty (the analytical left side of the brain) keeps telling my Muse (the creative right side of the brain) to go on over there and sit pretty while he does the job the right way. She refuses, of course, because she knows this first draft is her time to breathe life into what is only a concept. So the conflict slows me down.
Right now (while I'm revising), Lefty is having a ball, but the Muse asserts herself now and again. The two of them seem to be tolerating each other and working well together during this phase, perhaps because Lefty thinks he's in charge. I suppose as the Muse brings the characters to greater life, it's Lefty who provides the tools and builds the structure.
Thanks, Maxine for your title preferences. And, yes, I would love you to read my beta reading draft when it's ready.
I hope to have the title contest set up on my website in the next week. Details will follow soon.
